Eid Ul-Adha Celebration

The Muslim community at SALAM held their Eid Ul-Adha celebration for the Hijri year of 1430 on Sunday, November 29, 2009. A crowd of about 300 people gathered to attend and join their brothers and sisters in celebrations around the globe. The crowd consisted of men, women and children of all ages who came together to congratulate their fellow Muslim brothers and sisters and spend the day with them on this blessed occasion.
Numerous activities were held all over the campus. While a number of adults enjoyed a friendly game of chess or table tennis, the kids were busy in the jumping houses or getting their faces painted.
“I really like getting together and spending the day with all my friends and family on Eid. It gives Eid that unique flavor that you can't find in another holiday or celebration.” said one of the community members. “ I like seeing the whole community come together and celebrate like one big family. The brotherhood and Eid spirit never ceases to amaze me year after year.” said another community member.
Upon being asked about what their favorite part about Eid was, one of the kids responded, “I like Eid because we go shopping for new cloths and I get to play with all my friends and everyone is wearing new cloths.” Another one answered the question by saying, “This year we had a sheep and I got to play with it and feed it before the Eid.”
