Youth FAQs
Youth Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be a part of youth group to attend SAMY events?
NO! We encourage you to attend our events that we advertise to the greater community. These are events designed for ALL youth to come and enjoy. Our events also oftentimes give you an opportunity to learn more about the SAMY program and the youth that currently participate in it. So by all means, join us!
Can I come one Sunday just to check your program out?
Certainly! In fact we encourage it! If you were interested in the program, but weren’t sure if you wanted to join, come with us on a Sunday that we will be in class (please consult the schedule) to learn more about what our program has to offer.
I am visiting and would just like to attend a couple Sundays, is that okay?
Yes! That’s fine, and we’d love to have you!
I’m over 18, but want to be involved with youth group, what can I do?
E-mail youth@salamcenter.org to show your interest, or call SALAM Center at 916-979-1933.
Is there more intensive Islamic education for the middle school and high school age?
Currently we are working on developing a more intensive Islamic education program for middle school and high school age groups. We are also in search of willing, able-bodied chaperones interested in helping teach classes for this program. For now, our focus is Muslim character development. It is important for the youth to have a strong Muslim identity in order to encourage that desire for higher Islamic education. Without the desire, we believe that any attempt to force feed Islamic education would be futile, thus we approach it in this manner.
