A Check-In for Jumada al-Awwal

A few moons to Ramadan. Closer than it feels.

The distance sounds long, but the heart knows better.
Time moves differently when the soul is preparing
each moon, bringing us closer in readiness, in softness, in hope.

There’s something about Jumada al-Awwal that feels like a pause
a breath between what has been and what’s about to begin.

Here’s what we’re tending to at SALAM between the moons…

Care for the House That Holds Us

Before Ramadan greets us again, we tend to the house that has carried us.
This roof has sheltered us through storms and seasons;
now it’s our turn to shelter it with gratitude and care,
so generations after us can feel safe, seen, and connected.

When we tend to the masjid, we tend to ourselves
because the home of Allah is the home of our hearts.

Carry Each Other’s Du‘a

In November, our SALAM family will travel for Umrah.
Not everyone can go, but every heart can send something there.

If you have a du‘a, a hope, a quiet ache
we’ll carry it for you, whispering it in tawaf,
trusting that Allah, in His mercy, will receive it.

Sometimes the most beautiful journey
is the one your du‘a takes on your behalf.

Open New Doors

Soon, insha’a Allah, we’ll turn the keys to our new masjid on Enterprise Drive
an expansion of welcome, a space where faith and life intertwine.

You can set a prayer space for someone there
a single prayer spot, a lifelong sadaqah jariyah that says:
“There’s room for you here.”

The Approach of Ramadan

By the fourth moon, Ramadan will arrive
two homes alive with Qur’an, community, and light.
More room for families to gather, more space for hearts to soften.

Faith isn’t only practiced, it’s lived together.

By the next moon, maybe our hearts will be softer.
By Ramadan, maybe our homes, both physical and spiritual, will be ready.

If you’d like to be part of this,
to help repair the masjid roof,
to send a du‘a to Makkah,
or to dedicate a prayer space in our new home,
reach out! We’ll guide you to the simplest next step.

May our small acts keep weaving this community together, steady, sincere, and full of light.
