World Peace Rose Garden Interfaith Event
On Thursday, June 25, 2026, Asif Haq represented SALAM at the World Peace Rose Garden Interfaith Event and shared the Muslim perspective on religious freedom, harmony, and peace.
The event was organized by Rev. Kay Daly of the Interfaith Council of Greater Sacramento in recognition of Religious Freedom Week and International Religious Liberty Day. The theme was “Celebrating Religious Freedom: Faith in Harmony.”
Guest speakers included the Rt. Rev. William E. Swing and Father Tom Bonacci, who spoke about religious liberty, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence.
The program included prayers from several faith traditions. The Christian Prayer for Peace was read by the Very Rev. Dean Matthew Woodward of Trinity Cathedral, and the Jewish Prayer for Peace was read by Rabbi Nancy Wechsler.
Asif Haq read the Muslim Prayer for Peace and spoke briefly about the event’s theme. The Sikh Prayer for Peace was read by Gurjatinder Randhawa, and Sister Hansa led a guided meditation for peace.
