A Night to Remember: Knowledge, Community, and Vision

On Saturday, November 16, 2024, community members, families, and leaders gathered at SALAM for an evening that promised inspiration, reflection, and the unveiling of a bold vision for the future. The theme for the night resonated deeply: “My Lord, increase me in knowledge.” (Surah Taha 20:114)

An Evening of Unity and Inspiration

The banquet began with a heartfelt welcome from Br. Oussama Mokeddem, our Master of Ceremonies, who set a tone of unity and purpose.

The program opened with a recitation by Shaykh Achour El-Qaddoury, who beautifully recited Surat Taha (Verses 108-114). The recitation was followed by an English translation by Sr. Hanaa Abdalla, helping attendees connect deeply with the meaning of the verses.

Honoring Commitment and Leadership

A touching moment was the recognition of Br. Asif Haq, whose unwavering dedication to the SALAM has left an indelible mark. Dr. Metwalli Amer and Br. Omar MoheyEldin celebrated his invaluable contributions, showcasing the profound impact one individual can have on a community.

Br. Omar MoheyEldin, our Board Chairperson, took the stage to reflect on the remarkable progress we’ve made over the past year. From expanding our programs to strengthening bonds and collaboration with other organizations, his words highlighted the power of unity and community.

The announcement of SALAM’s most ambitious project yet—the launch of the Center for Higher Islamic Learning—was a pivotal milestone. A special video showcased this project, highlighting its potential to transform Islamic education and inspire generations to come.

Moments of Reflection and Generosity

We were deeply honored to witness a mesmerizing recitation from Surah Al-Hadid by Shaykh Abdallah Deeb. His powerful and eloquent delivery captivated the audience, elevating our spirits and filling the room with serenity and reflection.

Our keynote speaker, Imam Ahmad Deeb, delivered a passionate address on the importance of nurturing a community rooted in knowledge and connection. His inspiring words reminded us of the transformative power of education and unity.

Following him, Imam Tahir Anwar led an uplifting fundraiser, calling on our shared sense of responsibility to support SALAM’s mission. His heartfelt appeal moved hearts, and the remarkable generosity of our community shone through, paving the way for the success of the Center for Higher Islamic Learning.

As the evening drew to a close, Shaykh Saad ElHelaly led a heartfelt dua, uniting everyone in prayer before Isha prayer and dinner.
