Beyond the Banquet: Building a Community That Lasts

Reflecting on SALAM’s 2026 Annual Banquet — Unshakable Faith in Difficult Times

On Saturday, October 17, we welcomed our community to SALAM’s 2026 Annual Banquet, Unshakable Faith in Difficult Times.

It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, reconnect with friends, and come together in support of SALAM. Throughout the evening, we shared stories of the people and programs that make SALAM what it is today, and why continuing this work matters for the families and generations who depend on it.

What Are We Really Building?

At the banquet, we shared a simple story.

A child comes to SALAM because his mother brings him. He returns because a friend is there. Eventually, he comes back because someone remembers his name, because he feels connected, because SALAM has become a place he wants to be.

That is the kind of impact we are working toward.

It happens in our Weekend School classrooms, where children develop friendships alongside their knowledge of Islam. It happens when a young adult finds a space to ask difficult questions about faith without judgment. It happens when families walk through our doors and discover a community they can count on.

These moments may seem small, but they are how lasting connections are formed.

And they require more than a busy calendar of programs. They require consistency, dedicated people, welcoming spaces, and the resources to sustain them.

An Evening of Reflection and Generosity

We were honored to welcome Shaykh Rami Nsour and Imam Tahir Anwar, who offered powerful reminders about faith, responsibility, and the importance of investing in our community.

We also extend our appreciation to Al-Maqam Al-Mahmoud, whose beautiful nasheed performances added a special dimension to the evening.

Throughout the night, we were reminded of something important: the strength of SALAM has never been measured simply by its buildings or the number of programs it offers. It is found in the people who continue to show up, serve, give, teach, learn, and care for one another.

To Our Community, Thank You

To everyone who attended, gave generously, sponsored the evening, volunteered their time, or worked behind the scenes to make the banquet possible, thank you.

Your support means more than a successful event. It reflects your belief in the work SALAM is doing and the role this institution plays in the lives of our families.

We recognize that generosity comes with trust. And trust comes with responsibility.

It is our responsibility to care for the people, programs, and spaces our community depends on, and to ensure that the impact of today’s investments reaches well beyond today.

The Work Continues

Our Annual Banquet campaign supports SALAM’s operations for the coming year, helping sustain the teachers, staff, programs, and spaces that make this work possible.

Our goal is not simply to serve more people. It is to serve our community well, consistently, and with the care it deserves.

Because what matters most is not only who walks through our doors today, but whether they find a reason to return tomorrow.

Come for the community. Stay for the knowledge. Grow to carry forward.

May Allah accept the generosity of everyone who contributed and bless the work we continue to build together.

There’s Still Time to Be Part of This Work

If you weren’t able to join us, or would still like to contribute, our Annual Banquet campaign remains an opportunity to invest in the everyday work that keeps SALAM serving our community.
